Presented Maputo September 2012 — For the first time in country´s history, Mozambique has a National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), an independent body that stemmed from the adoption of Law 33/2009 in 2009 with the mandate to promote and defend human rights.
Mozambique: UN expert on extreme poverty to assess challenges in poverty alleviation
GENEVA, 5 April 2013 – United Nations Special Rapporteur Magdalena Sepúlveda will undertake an official visit to Mozambique from 8 to 16 April 2013 to gather first-hand information on the human rights situation of people living in poverty. She will assess the country’s efforts to protect their rights, official poverty reduction measures, and the obstacles faced both at the national and international levels.
