As part of the UN plan to support capacity development in Mozambique, nineteen journalists from mainstream and community news outlets attended the first module of a media training seminar on local governance, in December 2009 at the historic Island of Mozambique. The seminar took place at the time the country was in a process of swearing in of new President and Government following a general election in October in which Mozambican voters elected a President, members of the National Parliament and for the first time, Provincial Members of Parliament as well.
